Dog Vlog - A Day in the life of Herky & Milton in California
We have a new vlog for you as part of the Travel Series :D Here is our first full day in dog-friendly California. We were staying at the Air Venice Hotel in Venice Beach for the first few days. We really had a good time here.
Hope you enjoy!

DOG FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
If you're anything like me, then you must love taking your dog everywhere you go. Sadly, Montreal is not so dog friendly so we're usually restricted to where we can bring Herky & Milton.
We recently traveled to California with the girls, and explored San Diego. I had always heard that this city was super dog friendly, so I was very curious to check it out. We took them almost everywhere, really. Everyone loved them so much, and I'm incredibly happy to see this positive attitude towards dogs.
1- Dog Beaches
There are many beaches, just for dogs! We visited three of them:
- Fiesta Island; 1590 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109, USA
- Ocean Beach; Ocean Beach Bike Path, San Diego, CA 92107, USA
- Coronado; Ocean Blvd, Coronado, CA 92118, USA
Our favorite was definitely Ocean Beach. We'll do a separate post about each of these beaches. Stay tuned!
Some photos from Fiesta Island:
You can take your dog shopping with you at most stores. We visited Westfield UTC Mall, and every store was very happy to accept dogs. Most of the stores even have water bowls out, and if you're lucky, they'll give your pups some treats too!
4545 La Jolla Village Dr e, San Diego, CA 92122, USA
Most (almost all) restaurants with outdoor seating will accept dogs. We went to:
Crack Shack; 2266 Kettner Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101, USA
The Patio on Lamont; 4445 Lamont St, San Diego, CA 92109, USA
The Patio on Lamont offered some treats for the girls!
Be warned though that the dogs need to stay on the ground for safety and health regulations.
4- Dog Spas
Dog spas and dog pampering is huge in LA and SD. We took them to South Bark Dog Wash to get a Blueberry Facial (SO POPULAR HERE!), and a bath. A lot of places in San Diego are self-serve dog washes, so get ready to do some scrubbing.
Washes range between 15-20 USD for a regular treatment, and usually come with a complimentary Blueberry Facial.
South Bark Dog Wash: 2037 30th St, San Diego, CA 92104, USA
There are lots of trails to explore with your dog! Be sure to check which ones allow dogs, as some of them are only open to registered service dogs (not emotional support dogs).
We went to the cliff in Point Loma to watch the waves and look at the ocean.
6- Explore different neighborhoods
Take your dog on a long stroll and explore different areas and neighborhoods. We took the girls downtown for some different scenery, and got them some puppuccinos ;)
Also, if you'd like to look at all our activities in video form, check out the link below :)
We'll do a more thorough review of the dog beaches coming up - stay tuned!

PET CARRIER RECOMMENDATIONS: TOP 3
As some of you may or may not know, we're leaving with Herky & Milton on a trip to California shortly, and have been trying out some pet carriers. They will both be traveling in cabin, although they don't absolutely need to be in a carrier (post coming soon).
For today's post, we'd like to thank Sleepypod and Go Fresh Pet for sending some products for us to try out. We'll also be reviewing the Sherpa pet carrier and other goodies.
Herky weighs 19lbs and measures 13" to the shoulder
Milton weighs 12.8lbs and measures 12" to the shoulder
1- Sherpa Large Pet Carrier
- Good for cats and dogs
- Most commonly found pet carrier in pet stores and online
- Good for pets up to 22lbs
- Measurements: 19x188.8.131.52
- Carrier weight: 4lbs
- Price: 79 CAD
- To purchase, click here.
This carrier works ok for Herky, but perfect for Milton. When travelling with dogs in a carrier, airlines usually recommend that the pet is able to stand and turn around in the carrier. Clearly, this carrier wouldn't allow it for either Herky nor Milton. Nevertheless, I still believe they would both be comfortable in this carrier. You can also use this carrier in the car, but need to make sure it's safely secured for it to not move.
This carrier has a waterproof faux lambskin lining that is removable and machine washable. The girls LOVE the texture of lambskin, so this makes it very comfortable to them. The zippers are said to be lockable, but I don't think they are.
The straps are patented seatbelt safety straps, and the handles are padded. The carrier allows both topside and side entry, making this practical and has mesh panels for breathability. There is also a no slip adjustable shoulder strap, which is ok but not the most comfortable. The frame is patented soft frame made of fibre glass.
2- Sleepypod Air in Robins Egg Blue
- For pets up to 17lbs
- Measurements: 22 x 10.5 x 10.5
- Carrier weight: 4lbs
- Price: 215CAD
- To purchase, click here.
This carrier is definitely more luxe, sturdy and high quality. On the downside of all that, it does come with a steeper price tag. I'm absolutely obsessed with the color of this carrier, for obvious reasons. It can be used for the plane, the car or even bicycle.
What's great about Sleepypod, is that they do crash tests with their products at the child safety level, making this carrier one of the safest options for your pet.
The carrier has an anti-slip shoulder strap, mesh panels, a handle on the top, zippers that are lockable and unzip completely. It folds for easy storage and has a machine washable lining. It even has a side pocket for extra storage. BUT, you can't fit much in them. The design is made to be compressed to fit under seat during takeoff or landing.
This carrier is a great option if your budget allows!
3- Go Fresh Pet 2-in-1 Pet Carrier
- For pets up to 15lbs (Herky ok)
- Measurements: 20 x 13 x 12
- Carrier weight: 1.8lbs
- Carrier OR backpack
- Price: 69 CAD
- To purchase, click here.
The biggest advantage of this carrier, is that it can be used as a regular pet carrier or as a backpack. This allows better mobility and portability, especially when you're running around in an airport (or on a trek!).
It comes with a machine washable lining, a handle on the top, side pockets for extra storage (they can fit water bottles), adjustable and padded shoulder straps.
This carrier is not as sturdy as the other ones, but is the most affordable option. It's also waterproof and has reflective bands for added safety. Be careful when using this as a backpack not completely closed because dogs can jump out!
So hopefully this roundup was helpful for you guys! Happy and safe travels! :)
PS: there's a giveaway for some Sleepypod products happening on our Youtube channel :) Check out the video below!
Unboxing August Pupbox
We're unboxing August Pupbox with Herky & Milton!
Pupbox is a monthly subscription box curated for your puppy, according to his or her age and weight. Although Milton is not a "puppy" anymore, we still receive these boxes. They don't contain training material anymore, but there's still so much fun. We love opening these boxes every month and discovering new products!
If you're interested in trying out Pupbox, we have a 15% off discount code. Use "MILTON" at checkout :)
First off this month is an ear cleaner from Kin+Kind. This is the second product we try out from this brand, and we love it! This brand focuses on natural products and everything is made in the USA. This product contains organic witch hazel, tea tree oil and aloe. It's very important to keep your pup's ears clean, especially if they flop over like Herky & Milton. I clean the girls' ears twice a week to keep infections away!
Thanks for reading us, we hope you loved this unboxing :)

Fall 2017 Collection of Rope Leashes
We are so thrilled to announce the launch of our Fall 2017 Collection! Our inspiration between this collection is crisp air, sweater weather and beautiful warm colors. All our leashes now come with a ring for poop bags, and an exclusive Herky the Cavalier charm. They are all solid colored and finished with a gold snap hook. The names of the leashes in this collection are all cities in Quebec (except one, Manhattan).
To shop, click here.
First off is Val-Joli. A bright and vibrant red inspired by fall leaves.
Next we have Wickham, a stunning burnt orange shade. This name is special because it's the city where Herky and Milton were born.
This leash is called Gentilly, and is a warm and rich butterum yellow color.
Charlemagne is a deep teal or shaded spruce color that's inspired by pine trees.
This is Manhattan. It was originally released in the fall of this year. We're bringing it back because it's a favorite, and because it compliments the other colors oh so well.
Last but not least is Richmond. This is a deep plum/aubergine color that's inspired by fall fashion and jewel tones.
We hope you love these leashes as much as we do! Fall is such a beautiful season, and we tried to take as much of it as possible into this collection.

Cavalier Gear - Review of Cavlife
We're reviewing some products for the cavalier-obsessed human that we are :D All these items are from CavLife, which we've loved from the very beginning. Their page features the cutest cavaliers from Instagram, and the products are just pawesome.
Although they have a lot more offerings, here's what we have the chance to get our paws on. First off is my new favorite piece of jewelry.
And last but certainly not least, are these Cav Party yoga pants! If these don't satisfy your cavalier obsession, I don't know what will. These are a real cavalier party that you can wear on the daily :D They are high waisted, making you feel tucked in even after a meal. They are long on me, but I do measure 5'1". I would point out that these pants are the "light grey", but look lilac in person.
I love these items, and hope you do too! Happy shopping ;)
Unboxing May Pupbox
Better late than never! We're unboxing May Pupbox with Milton and Herky today!
Pupbox is a monthly subscription service for your pup, that tailors each month's box to your pup's age and size! They always have some training material - which is super helpful. You can save 15% any subscription package with code "MILTON" at checkout :)
Thank you Pupbox for remembering that we don't want hard bones :D
We hope you enjoyed unboxing with us!
Fruits & Veggies for dogs
We're excited to share with you today, our favorite treats to give the girls. Fruits and vegetables! These are healthy and can provide a ton of vitamins and benefits for your fur baby. These are a better alternative to regular dog treats you find in pet stores, which usually contain preservatives.
Of course, some fruits and vegetables are no-go, which I'll be posting about soon. But here are our favorites!
Like everything in life, these are to be given in moderation and should not replace any meal. It's always good to mix it up and change up your dog's diet, which includes treats :)
Which are your favorite fruits or vegetables to give to your dog? :) Tell us below!
Tips on How To Keep Your Dog Cool
With the upcoming warmer days coming, it's important to keep in mind that some dogs need to stay comfortable with all the heat. Cavaliers, amongst others, are very prone to heat exhaustion and heat strokes. This list includes any dogs with a shorter snout, like pugs, bulldogs, boxers, boston terriers, pekingese.
These tips are easy, and can prevent some serious consequences for your beloved fur baby.
2- Use a Cooling Mat
These cooling mats are a recent discovery and are a life saver! Herky gets very very hot in the summer, and will usually lay down on our ceramic floors in the kitchen to cool down. Every since we got this, the girls both lay on it every time they're a bit hot. I also love to use a large size (L-XL), for both girls to use it at the same time.
I hope you enjoy these tips. Remember that even if your dog is not technically "prone" to over heating, please always be careful in the summer and watch out for signs of exhaustion. These tips are easy to follow and will be sure to keep your pup comfortable.
SUMMER COLLECTION OF ROPE LEASHES IS HERE
We are thrilled and so happy to announce that our Summer Collection of rope leashes is finally here :D
These have been in the works for a few months now, and we even had the chance to go to Mexico to shoot all the promotional photos and product shots. We were in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, bordered by the Bahia de Banderas and lush palm-covered mountains.
For the Summer Collection, I wanted to launch leashes that were bold and colorful. Unlike our Spring Collection, most of these leashes are dyed in three colors. I was inspired by tropical beaches and hot summer days to give you bright and festive leashes.
For the names of these leashes, we wanted to stick with the geographical theme. All of these are named after lush, warm and exotic locations.
Aruba, Bora Bora, Capri
Ibiza, La Isla Bonita, Oahu
We are so incredibly thrilled about this collection, and hope you like it as much as we do. Again, thank you all so much for the continued support and love. We wouldn't be doing any of this if it wasn't for you.
To thank you, we'll be giving away one of these leashes. All you have to do is share this blog post, and comment directly below telling us which leash from this collection is your favorite. This giveaway is international and will be open until June 8th 11:59EST. We'll be picking a winner and announcing it on June 9th, directly under the winner's comment. Stay tuned, and good luck everyone <3
April Pupbox unboxing & review
It's always exciting for the girls (and me) when we receive Pupbox in the mail. Is it just me, or is there something super thrilling about waiting and getting stuff by mail?
Each month, we get a box filled with goodies for Milton. Pupbox follows your pup's growth and development, and sends a curated box each month targeted for your pup's age. If you're interested in signing up, we have a coupon code, "MILTON", that you can use on any subscription to save 15%!
First toy we got is a Kong Puzzlement. I love Kong toys, especially the original Kong. They are known to be very durable and high quality. This toy is a puzzle for your pup, and you can customize the level of difficulty by tucking the bee inside the hive.
Next, we got some duck treats from My Little Wolf. These are grain free, have a low calorie content, and the girls love these. They are said to be made with over 25% real duck meat.
It seems that each month we get some sort of treats, and it's good to see how many brands offer grain-free products. These are great for your pups if they have allergies or intolerances. Or simply if you prefer giving your pup grain free treats and food :)
This is the Everlasting Groovy Ball from Starmark. This brand seems to offer a lot of challenging and puzzle toys, which is amazing! This toy had a giant chicken flavored treat on one end, and you can also add some treats in the other end to add to the fun. Milton is SUPER possessive of this toy and decided it was hers forever and ever.
It's also virtually indestructible therefore very durable. We've played with it for a few weeks now and I must say it is not destroyed so far. I can't say whether it's indestructible or not, though ;) We usually put some kibble in the toy and it keeps the girls distracted for a long time.
This is a very tastefully designed toy from Petprojekt, called Dogegg. It looks like something you could use as decor almost. It's a resistant toy that squeaks and wobbles. Very fun! Milton likes this one a lot. One con about this toy is that the material gathers a lot of dust, especially after the girls play with it.
This is the Magic Block and is intended to be used as a grooming tool. You can brush your dog, or use it to brush off fur from clothes, furniture, cars etc. I can't find it online anywhere, sorry! I brushed Milton with this, and I'm on the fence about it. It removes some fur, but it doesn't gather the fur in the block itself. It sort of brushes the fur off Milton, but you still need to pick up the fur from her afterwards. I haven't used it on furniture or car seats yet, but I think I'll be keeping this to try :)
We also got a pack of 100 all purpose wipes from Groom Genie. These are fantastic, since I use them multiple times a day. I always like to have some wipes around for the girls' paws, bums and faces. These are great to use to keep your pups clean, without having to shower them! I love that this is a 100-pack. I go through these very quickly, so now I have some extra to keep in the car.
Last but not least are the Doggy IncrediBubbles from PetQWerks. I wanted to do this with the girls this summer, so the timing is just perfect. I had seen some photos online of dogs playing with bubbles and thought it was the cutest thing. These are long-lasting, non toxic bubbles infused with peanut butter! They're odd, to be honest. I can actually hold a bubble on my finger without having it pop. Once it pops, it's a film-y, sticky texture though. The girls love the taste, but it can get messy. I would recommend playing with this outdoors.
Thanks for reading, we love you!
Go Fresh Pet Dog Backpack - Review
How cute are these dog backpacks? They're from Go Fresh Pet, and here's a full rundown.
We're actually big fans of Go Fresh Pet products in general. They're always good quality, functional and come in beautiful colors.
These backpacks come in three sizes: S, M and L. Both Herky and Milton are wearing size S in the photo above. I was actually surprised to see that there are only three sizes. Go Fresh Pet usually offer a HUGE range of sizes. BUT this backpack in size S can fit dogs from 15lbs to 35lbs. In all honesty though, it's too big for Milton (who is only 11lbs).
This backpack is so sturdy. It has an integrated harness that buckles at two different locations, with a padded chest strap for support and comfort. It has two removable saddle bags, and hidden compartments for extra storage. There are also two loops for you to hook a leash to. And finally, a back handle for emergencies.
All in all, this backpack is very well made and super practical. If you have an active lifestyle, this backpack is perfect for hands-free trekking. I love the fact that you use it as a harness, but also as a backpack. Although we don't do a lot of off leash trekking and hiking, I would feel comfortable having Herky wear this backpack around. She can carry her own poo bags, right?
We're giving away TWO of these backpacks :D
All you have to do is
1- Be subscribed to our Youtube channel
2- Comment below telling us why you should win :)
The giveaway is international, and will be open until Sunday June 4th 11:59EST. Herky will be drawing the winners on Monday June 5th :)
Good luck everypawdy!
BeOneBreed - Review
I love discovering new dog brands and products, especially when it turns out they are local. I happened to stumble upon BeOneBreed's Facebook Page a few months ago, and was happily surprised with the simplicity of their branding. I noticed that they're a Quebec brand and their product selection was curated.
About the brand
BeOneBreed was previously known as Comfy Solution, founded in 2011. Their mission is to design and deliver solutions for comfort, fun and wellbeing of pets. They offer innovative and accessible products for dogs and cats.
They were very kind and sent over some items for the girls to review. A Cozy bed, a Twisted Twine rubber toy, and a Baby Giraffe fabric toy.
Cozy Bed Wood
I'll be honest. The girls have a lot of beds, toys, collars, leashes. You name it, they probably have a few of them laying around the house. But this bed is special and really caught my eye. It feels incredibly luxe, and is made out of memory foam. It's very soft to the touch, and has a cloud pillow center. Honestly, I would love a bed like this for myself.
It's also very trendy because of the wood motif on the bed, and matches perfectly with my floors and couch. The girls have the size small which measures 23"x19". It's big enough for both girls to sleep in it, if they're cuddling. But most of the time, Milton will shotgun it.
Another thing I look for in beds, is whether they're easy to clean or not. With this bed, you can remove the cover from the pillow, and pop it in the washing machine. For the body of the bed, you can lint roll and spot clean.
I also love the fact that this bed is completely slip-proof. The entire bottom surface is made up of a non-slip material, making it sturdy and stable wherever you put it. I tried moving the bed with my feet, pretending to walk into it, and it didn't slide away. Bonus points for this.
Twisted Twine Rubber Toy
We also received this Twisted Twine rubber toy, which is part of their twisted collection. It's made from 100% rubber, allowing you to play tug of war, or fetch on land or in the pool. I'm guessing it floats - but I haven't tried.
I was actually very eager to try this toy, because Milton loves ropes. However, I don't give her traditional rope toys to play with anymore, because she tears them up and swallows the thread.
Good news is that when Milton actually lets Herky play, she loves it too! The toy is very durable, so there are no pieces of rubber that break off. They don't play tug together, because Herky is afraid of Milton. Poor Herky.
Funny fact: Milton actually takes this toy with her to sleep. Just so she can guard it.
Baby Giraffe Fabric Toy
How adorable is this Baby Giraffe toy? It actually reminds me of a toy for human babies. This toy squeaks, crinkles and has a rubber teething ring too. It's like an all-in-one for puppies. Plus, it's cute.
Obviously, Milton shotgunned this toy and claimed it as hers.
The downside of any fabric toy, is that they're usually not very durable. This toy is a puppy toy too, making it softer and more suitable for baby teeth. Milton was able to destroy this toy within an hour of getting her paws on it :(
I would strongly advise that once your pup's toy gets to this stage, that you throw it out. If your pups are anything like mine, they will most likely eat the stuffing. No good.
This toy doesn't go to complete waste though. I was able to pull the teething ring out of the baby giraffe, and use it as a stand-alone toy!
BeOneBreed has definitely impressed me as a brand. I love their website, their product offering and their color schemes. Everything that they offer has a simple design, and a great function.
My favorite item is obviously the Cozy Bed. It looks so beautiful, it's practical and the girls love to sleep in it. I love how Pinterest-y it looks, how easy it is to clean, and how it doesn't slip and slide when it's on the floor. As for their toys, you have to be careful to choose something that you know will withstand your pup's chewing abilities. My girls are heavy chewers, so that poor Baby Giraffe didn't stand a chance.
I hope you enjoyed this review - thanks for reading :)
I think I'm not the only one that loves to watch funny dog videos, right?
So here is yet another dog bloopers and outtakes videos of your dear Herky and Milton. Because it's funny, and because it's not easy filming with these two sometimes ;)
Dear Puppy Milton,
Boy oh boy do I have some exciting news to share with you today!!!
Oh my my my my, you are NOT going to believe this one...
I heard. (giggles) I'm so shy.
I heard through the grapevine...THAT...
Are you readyyy?
I heard that mommy is bringing over a boy cavalier for us to play with!!!
He might even be allowed to sleep over for the entire week!!! Oh-My-God
Siiiigh. This is too much for my little cavalier heart to handle.
This is NOT just any random boy dog, do you understand that dear Puppy Milton?
Apparently he has long, dark, luscious black hair.
He’s a tricolour.
He's tall, athletic, and has the most mysterious eyes
His name is Romeo. Yes. Romeo, like the great Shakesperian lover.
It's so perfect.
I think he might even be a poet!!
O Romeo, Romeo where are thou Romeo.
OK listen to me carefully dear puppy Milton.
I'm going to need you to be on your BEST behavior in the upcoming days OK??
You know I don't ask much from you and
I really do let you get away with alot of things.
But for the sake of your beloved older sister
PLEASE please... PLEASE do NOT embarass me in the upcoming days ok?!!
I need you to subtlely let Romeo know how sweet and delicate I am as a girl.
How caring, gentle and lady like I am.
I'm a charming queen and Romeo needs to know this.
By all means, don't you ever DARE mention that I frequently fart after eating my suppers.
I don't fart. I don't burp. I don't stink, I don't any of that OK??
Romeo doesn’t look like a homeless, unlike our step sisters.
He’s fancy. He has a giant luxury memory foam bed.
It’s a special edition navy collection.
And I heard he’s a vegetarian, too! Such a hipster.
We have to be nice to Romeo and make him feel welcome. Let’s not steal his food nor his bed. Ok? Dear Puppy Milton?
Or else, he may never come here again. And I certainly wouldn’t want that.
Let’s share our toys and our food with him. I’m even gonna give him a matching hoodie, so he feels like he’s part of our pack.
Siiiigh. This is so exciting. I feel like he’s going to be love of my life. Oh Romeo, oh so charming.
Oh wait. Is that drool? Is he drooling? K never mind.
Boys are gross. (laughs) Forget everything I said, Dear Puppy Milton. Yuck.
The Spring Collection has launched for a little over 2 months now, and I'm blown away with the love and support we've received. I didn't quite know if it would work, actually. I'm very glad I pulled the trigger and that I'm able to send these all over the world to fellow dog lovers.
Our leashes have been shipped to Canada, USA, Australia, UK, Bulgaria and Belgium to name a few. (eek!)
As I was launching the boutique, I wondered which leash would people love? It turns out that my favorite leash, the Manhattan, is also the most popular one. And for good reason. The Manhattan is a beautiful deep and rich navy blue color with a gold clamp. It's so classy, and I use it almost everyday with either Herky or Milton.
As we hit an incredible milestone of 25k followers on Instagram, I wanted to do something special to thank each and everyone of those who have supported me and the girls. Thank you so much for all the likes, the comments, the messages, the gifts, the cards. You are all so amazing and we love you.
As a thank you, we'll be giving away one Manhattan leash to one lucky winner.
This giveaway is open internationally until Friday May 19th, 11:59 EST.
All you have to do is comment on this blog post telling us why you should win, and Herky will be drawing a winner in 2 weeks!
Good luck everypawdy!
You seemed to all love the last video of Milton taking a bath. So today, we're giving you Herky AND Milton taking a bath :D
This was just a lower body bath to get rid of some snow balls, but we still wanted to film something and share it with you. We hope you enjoy!
Herky & Milton
It's time to unbox March Pupbox!
Pupbox is a monthly subscription box curated for your puppy according to his or her age and size. By signing up with code "MILTON", you can get a nice 15% off discount :)
March Pupbox was Milton's 8-month box, and was all about dental hygiene. We actually started both Herky and Milton on dental hygiene since they were about 2 months old to get them accustomed on the process. They are quite good with teeth cleaning, which is great for maintaining good dental health.
First up this month is some treats: Jerky Squares from Pet Greens
These treats smell very strong, but are great if you want to add some greens to your dog's diet in the form of treats! The girls love to snack on kale - bonus for that!
Next we have a HuggleHounds Ruff-Tex toy
How adorable is this toy? I love that it's made of 100% natural rubber and safe colorings. It's not a hollow toy either, which makes it a more durable.
We also got a Toothbrush & Toothpaste Kit:
Dental hygiene is so important and can help prevent a lot of diseases. I highly encourage all dog owners to brush their dog's teeth at least once a week to help remove plaque and help tartar buildup. The sooner you start them on this, the more used to it they will become :)
We also got a flossy chew from Mammoth:
Rope toys are great for dogs because it keeps them distracted and they're usually very durable. However, Milton has been a little destructive with her toys lately, especially rope toys. She'll destroy them and even swallow some parts of it. It's a bit dangerous for her, so I don't give her toys like this for now. It'll go to Herky :)
Next we have the Flavorit Breath:
This toy is infused with chlorophyll to help promote healthy gums and fresh breath. It has little flavor cells that you can fill with peanut butter, or apple sauce! Milton actually loves this toy so much! Just be careful when giving hard toys and treats to your dog. You want to watch and supervise when they chew on these, to make sure they don't chomp on them too intensely. You never know when your dog can fracture a tooth.
Last but not least is Z-Bone from Zuke's:
These dental chews are soft so they don't last very long. I use them more as little treats, since we actually brush their teeth. However, the girls love these!
See the girls unbox below :D
We need your help :)
Herky & Milton are in the run for being models Doggy Café calendar! To win this spot, we need to have the most "likes" on this photo. We would really appreciate it if you would vote for the girls :D
We have until Monday May 1st for votes - let's do this!
Herky & Milton
Dear puppy Milton,
Today, I'm going share you in on an absolulte life devotion of mine.
Please brace yourself, because the fun involved with this activity is so exhilarating,
It is so thrilling that it will intoxicate your body,
and leave your snout shaking in an invegorating frenzy.
The activity hereby mentioned is called: The Joy of Cone Eating (!)
I mean, I know it's not a cone per say. Obviously. I am not stupid.
We all know that this is in a fact a cylindrical formed object.
I did in fact pass my grade 3 geometry class with flying colors.
It's just that I prefer to call it a cone. It has a nice ring to it.
Don't you find?
It's sounds so short and sweet.
It arouses your senses of fresh, clean, natural air. Like pine cones.
When the humans blow in them, it makes magical whale sounds.
It's pleasing to the ear. Arouses your nose with the perfumed fragrance of happiness.
It tickles your innocence with pure wholesome enjoyment.
I love cones. So much. Oh so much.
I like short cones, long cones, dark cones. I love them all. I love to lick them, nibble on them, chew them. I like it all.
I do find however, that you repeat the word too much, it starts to lose it's meaning.
Cone. Connnne. Cone. Cone?
hihi, ooooohhh precious cones.
Let me teach you about the different specifications of cones though.
Because even though they might slightly resemble each other in shape and size.
Every cone is different.
You can start with the Beginner's cone, Dear puppy Milton.
This short sized cone measures about 4 inches in length with a diameter of 2 inches.
These are commonly found hidden inside toilet paper rolls labeled Charmin, Cottonnelle, or Scott Naturals
on it. These humans, they do the oddest things.
I never understood why they would hide these sweet, delicious cones inside toilet paper.
Do they seriously think that we'd never find out?
Silly silly oomans. They are so dull-witted sometimes.
Next, you will find the longer sized, Bounty paper cones.
These cones are for moderate enthusiasts. They also are of 2inches diameter,
with a circomference of 5 inches, but get this.
Their length can reach up to TWELVE inches!
That is literally THREE times the size of a beginner's cone!
You know what they say? 3 times the size, 3 times the exhiliration.
Lastly, you will discover the ultimate rare cone.
These thick, compact cones are find hidden, wrapped deep in the center of paper made out of metal!
The oomans call it - "A LU MI-NUM". I know, it's straight out of a science fiction movie.
It's outstanding and unsurpassed.
I think they hide it in this A-LU-MINUM chemical compound because they are selfish.
Luckily for you, dear puppy Milton. I have defyed all odds and has succeeded on
putting my paws on not one, but TWO of these treasured cones.
I see you are already quite skillful at the art of Cone Shredding already.
It must run in your blood.
Some other dogs just don’t have it in them.
Legend has it that our dog-dad was quite the Cone Shredder himself.
So let us rejoice in this magnificent pleasure of cone shredding, dear puppy Milton.
It is a joy that is undescripable. An eccstacy like none other, but I don't need to tell you that.
You seem to have this love of cones inbreded in you already.
I am so proud of you, dear Puppy Milton.
Your big sister Herky
We are so excited to share some photos of Herky & Milton from a recent collaboration with the amazing Kevin from Off Leash Studio! We were visiting Toronto last weekend, and stumbled onto Kevin's Facebook page. I was blown away by his ability to capture dog's spunky personalities. My mind was set - we had to pass by his studio that weekend.
Kevin was SUPER quick to reply to our inquiry (koodos for that!). And although he was solidly booked for the next month, he said he would be able to squeeze us in for a session on that Sunday. We were all so excited!
The girls, being little suburban princesses, were not quite used to Toronto's busy and bustling streets. They were quite nervous and acting very anxious, which means they were not being their usual models during the shoot. For some behind the scenes moments, check out the video here:
Needless to say we had a lot of fun, and still got some amazing shots, thanks to Kevin's patience and talent. Bonus points for him laying on the floor for the entire shoot. You'll find some of our favourite shots below.
The girls needed a lot more directions and treats to cooperate.
Probably my favourite shot of Herky during this shoot. This girl always likes to catch treats!
Poor little Milton isn't capable of catching treats, so she just opted for the traditional sit and smile.
Just two sisters trying to play it cool.
I'm literally obsessed with these photos, and can't wait to show you more!
A huge thank you to Kevin for squeezing us into his already full schedule, and for creating this timeless memories for us.

If you're a dog parent and you're anything like me, you know that most of the time, you try to take photos or videos of your fur baby. The downside is that they're not always so cooperative. I may sometimes have to take thirty shots to get that one good photo. Same goes for videos. Most of the time, they just move around constantly or bark like there's no tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy this little compilation!
If you have a Cavalier, you know that their fur is one of their most beautiful attributes. You would also know that that beautiful fur can gather all sorts of stuff during walks, including huge snow balls. It's actually quite a hassle for us to go play outside in the winter, since these snow balls gather so easily, and so quickly.
They can also be quite painful for your pup, since they get very heavy and therefore pull on their fur and skin.
Although we use a snow suit for Herky, snow balls can still form around the ankles and on the belly. Plus, Herky really doesn't like to wear any sort of clothing, so it's a battle everytime we try to put it on her.
We've found out that the best way to get rid of these snow balls is by using water! Not the blow dryer, not a towel. I usually do what they call a lower-body bath, and run some lukewarm water on the snowballs. They melt right off, and it's much quicker than using a blow dryer to try and melt the snowballs. This method also prevents those pesky knots that can again, so easily form on cavalier fur.
Of course, make sure you blow dry the fur after you've run their bodies under water.
We hope this helps you!

We are so happy and excited to finally launch our decorative pillow covers :D We've been working on these for so long, and they're finally ready to launch! If you're anything like me, you know that it's a must to change the pillows around your house as seasons come and go. The downside is that I can't always find pillows or pillow covers that meet my exact expectations. Now, I can have pillows that add a decorative touch to the house, in beautiful spring colors that reflect the true cavalier-obsessed person that I am.
This collection has 5 different designs:
- Herky & Milton Portrait
- Home is where the Paws Are
- Catch me Outside
- I'd rather be with my Cavalier
- Snuggle Time
and 5 different colors for you to choose from:
- dusty mint
- dusty pink
- light grey
I'm just obsessed with these colors, as they are toned down but still add the perfect touch of spring to our living room.
All the pillow covers shown measure 20"x20", but they are also available in 16"16". I can comfortably fit a 17" pillow inside the 20"x20" pillow cover and it gives it a more relaxed look. They are all made from 100% cotton canvas, and have a good thick consistency to them.
To add to all this excitement, we're also hosting a little giveaway on our Youtube channel for these pillow covers! The rules are simple:
- Subscribe to our Youtube channel
- Comment on our video
- Send us an email saying you entered, with your name and shipping information
We hope you'll participate in this little giveaway, and we REALLY hope you like these pillow covers as much as we do :D
