Fruits & Veggies for dogs

Picture
Hello!

We're excited to share with you today, our favorite treats to give the girls. Fruits and vegetables! These are healthy and can provide a ton of vitamins and benefits for your fur baby. These are a better alternative to regular dog treats you find in pet stores, which usually contain preservatives.

Of course, some fruits and vegetables are no-go, which I'll be posting about soon. But here are our favorites!

BANANAS

Bananas are a great source of potassium and can be given to your dog after intense physical activity to help muscle recovery (just like for humans!). They can also help stabilize the digestive system, and ease diarrhea or constipation.

These must be given in moderation, as they contain quite a bit of sugar.

BLUEBERRIES

I mentioned these colorful berries in the last blog post, and how they can be used frozen to keep your dog cool.

Blueberries contain a ton of antioxidants and vitamin C. Antioxidants help with free radicals, which in turn can help prevent cancer. Who doesn't love that?

Plus, they are small and can be used as training treats too!
APPLES

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.

Apples contain vitamin A, vitamin C and have a great crunch. They help clean teeth and keep your dog's breath fresh.

When feeding apples, make sure you remove the core and the seeds!

WATERMELON

Watermelon contains vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and SO MUCH water! They are excellent for hydration on a hot summer day.

Make sure you get the seedless kind, to avoid intestinal blockage.

Your pup's lips may get all pink after eating this!
CUCUMBER

Cucumbers are low fat, low carbohydrates and contain vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin B1 and lots of water.

They can be given as treats and provide a boost of energy too!

Like everything in life, these are to be given in moderation and should not replace any meal. It's always good to mix it up and change up your dog's diet, which includes treats :)

Which are your favorite fruits or vegetables to give to your dog? :) Tell us below!

Thank you for sharing this informative and wonderful article. As a dog owner, I really learned a lot from this post. I've been confused on what to feed my dog for the past couple of months. I've researched on the internet, but they all gave different opinions. I'll be following your tips from now on, so that I can feed my pet the right food.

I am enjoying looking through your terrific blog! Veggies and fruits are great for dogs! I add steamed zucchini, green beans, and carrots to my Chloe's meals, as well as raw curly parsley. She loves strawberries dipped in plain yogurt as well!

Me too! I love the idea that we have healthy options for our babies. Good to know that I can let them eat what I eat for snacks. It’s just that I’m having a hard time introducing this to my chow-chow. She doesn’t like the taste but I’m sure that she’ll get used to it. Hope to find out more healthy options to choose from. Thanks for sharing this! I’ll be looking forward to more of your posts in the future.

My dogs favorite fruit is an apple ... He likes mango too ... Since mango is not included in the six kinds of fruit good for dogs .. Shall I stop feeding him?
